A business trip took Jason to India for 2 weeks in the spring of 2005. During his visit, he was able to visit the ruins of an ancient city called Hampi which is roughly 6 hours by car northwest of Bangalore near the city of Hospet. A magnificent set of temples located near the towns of Halebeedu and Belur were also visited. Of course a trip to India wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Taj Mahal, and to top it off, a special visit to see the Taj under a full moon.

 Parrot Visitor
These parrots are abundant on the grounds of the Taj. This one landed just a few feet in front of me and almost beckoned to have his picture taken, or so I'd like to believe.
 Agra Fort Entrance
A few kilometers from the Taj Mahal is Agra fort. Mostly built by Emperor Akbar, also in red standstone, this serves today as a base for the INDIAn army and is mostly closed off to the public.
View of the Taj Mahal from Agra Fort
After the Taj Mahal was built, Shah Jahan's son Aurangzeb imprisoned him in the fort to prevent it from building another Taj for himself across the river from the first Taj Mahal. From this Tower Shah Jahan could see the monument built to his beloved wife but would never live to visit it again.
 Native Pelicans
On the way back to Dehli from Agra, my driver spotted these pelicans off the side of the road. A flock of about 10 were walking along this somewhat marshy area.
